Ministry of PUPR temporarily suspends the construction of Serang-Panimbang toll road

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono decided to temporarily suspend the construction work on the Serang - Panimbang Toll Road in order to prevent the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The decision was based on consideration of the report of the existence of one employee at the project site with the status of a Patient Under Surveillance (PDP).

The temporary suspension of Serang-Panimbang Toll Road construction is given for 14 days from the submission of the temporary termination proposal by the Director General (Dirjen) of Bina Marga received approval from the Minister of PUPR on April 16, 2020 and further construction work can resume if conditions on the field are declared safe.

The Serang - Panimbang Toll Road has a length of 83.67 Km which is divided into 3 Sections, namely Section 1 of the Serang - Rangkasbitung Section (26.50 Km), then Section 2 of the Rangkasbitung - Cileles (24.17 Km), and Section 3 of the Cileles - Panimbang (33 Km). The construction was carried out under the Government and Business Entity (PPP) scheme with an investment of Rp 5.33 trillion consisting of Sections 1 - 2, the portion of the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) of PT Wijaya Karya Serang Panimbang and Section 3 of the Government portion.

Construction progress in Section 1 has reached 57.31%. Overall, the Serang - Panimbang Toll Road is targeted to operate in 2022. (LM)
