The price of gas for power plants is reduced to US$ 6 per mmbtu

28 April 2020 08:45

JAKARTA. The Indonesian government lowered the selling price of gas for PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) and Power Plant Developers (BUPL) to US$ 6 per mmbtu.

Agung Pribadi, Head of the Communication Bureau of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), said the decision was in accordance with Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 10 of 2020 concerning amendments to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation No. 45 of 2017. This change will have an impact on the selling price of gas, for companies or parties related to power generation business.

"[BUPL] includes Power Plant Developers (PPL) and Business Area owners, who have a power purchase agreement or operational cooperation agreement (KSO) with PT PLN (Persero)," said Pribadi through an official statement.

Pribadi added that Oil and Gas Downstream Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) would coordinate and adjust gas transportation rates through pipelines.

Meanwhile, the State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) will get an incentive, after the price adjustment. "Incentives can be given proportionally," explained Pribadi. (KR/AR)
