JAKARTA - Indonesia has been reelected as Chair of the Financial Resources Working Group (FRWG), which facilitates strategic partnerships and funding for the Coral Triangle Initiative for Corals, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI CFF).

Aryo Hanggono, Director-General of Marine Spatial Management at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries who also serves as Executive Secretary of the CTI CFF National Secretariat, has expressed his appreciation for this diplomacy effort.

"I would like to congratulate Indonesia on its reelection as Chair of FRWG. Marine diplomacy for national interest does not stop amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Through CTI CFF, Indonesia has managed to show leadership, especially in terms of regional sustainable funding for the management of marine resources, particularly corals, fisheries, and food security in the Coral Triangle," said Mr Hanggono in a press release on Monday (4/5).

In a virtual meeting held by FRWG last weekend, the Indonesian delegation affirmed that Indonesia would continue encouraging the establishment of sustainable funding mechanism to ensure effective and efficient implementation of CTI CFF's Regional Plan of Action (RPOA). The funding mechanism will be used to support CTI CFF's three prioritised management programmes, namely Sulu Sulawesi Seascape, Lesser Sunda Seascape, and Bismarck Solomon Seas Seascape. (LK/MS)
