06 May 2020 05:42

JAKARTA. The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) revealed that many investments from various countries entered Indonesia through business entities in Singapore.

Acting Deputy of Investment Implementation Control of the BKPM, Farah Indriani, said the realization of investment from Singapore during the first quarter (Q1) 2020 reached US$ 2.7 billion. This figure is equivalent to 40% of the total foreign investment (PMA) in Indonesia during Q1 2020.

"In fact, when compared to the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2019, investment from Singapore rose sharply by 141% from US$ 1.13 billion," Indriani said through an official statement.

Nevertheless, Indriani revealed that not all the investments come from Singapore. Some of them came from various countries including from South Korea, China, the United States, to Europe.

"These countries build their hubs in Singapore, then invest in Indonesia," said Indriani. (KR/AR)
