JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry is spurring the productivity of the domestic meat processing industry to be able to supply the people's needs in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, in order to expedite the activities of the sector, the Ministry of Industry proposes that the meat processing industry can obtain raw material at competitive prices.

"In order for our meat processing industry to be more productive and competitive, we have proposed to be given access to import raw meat directly and to be separated between industry needs and consumption needs," said Director General of Agro Industry of the Ministry of Industry Abdul Rochim in Jakarta, Monday (4/5).

Rochim explained, currently there is still a demand for processed meat products on the market. For this reason, the meat processing industry needs to be protected by the availability of raw material stock. "Especially to meet the needs during Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr, which is estimated to reach 302.3 thousand tons," he said.

The Ministry of Industry noted, the meat processing industry sector grew to 28.87 percent in 2019, with a production volume of 242,791 tons. This am
