Ministry of Industry to boost recovery in industrial sector affected by COVID-19

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry continues to push for the recovery of the domestic industrial sector affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. This is to keep the wheels of the national economy spinning as well as following the health protocol.

"The Covid-19 pandemic has stopped a number of industrial sectors. The factory stopped its operation and employees had to be laid off, "said the Director General of the Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Textile Industries (IKFT) of the Ministry of Industry, Muhammad Khayam in Jakarta, Wednesday (6/5).

Based on this condition, the Ministry of Industry is looking for solutions to immediately improve the performance of the manufacturing industry in the country affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. For example, in the agro industry sector, the Ministry of Industry will coordinate with relevant stakeholders to meet the needs of its industrial raw materials. In addition, facilitating and coordinating the absorption of domestic agro industry products and for exporting agro industry products.

For the IKFT sector, the steps to be carried out by the Ministry of Industry, include the procurement of machinery or equipment to increase the production of standardized herbal or herbal raw materials or phytopharmaca which for immunity, as well as the production of antibodies and respiratory lozenges.

In the metal, machinery, transportation, and electronics industry (ILMATE) sector, the Ministry of Industry facilitates the development of disaster emergency management applications or increases the population of startup company software content, utilizes the Rural Multi-use Mechanical Tool (AMMDes) in accelerating the handling of Covid-19, and procurement a testing tool for the accuracy and reliability of ventilator devices in the framework of making prototype ventilators.
