Construction progress of Akademik UGM Hospital reaches 60%

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is continuing the construction of the Akademik Hospital (Gajah Mada University) (UGM) as a referral hospital for handling COVID-19 in the Special Region of Yogyakarta which had already been built but was stopped in 2010 with the 75% progress at that time. Further work on completion of the UGM Academic Hospital has been carried out since April 20, 2020.

Minister Basuki said, the completion of the Akademik UGM Hospital was part of the refocusing of the Ministry of PUPR's activities amounting to Rp1.829 trillion to support the acceleration of COVID-19 handling. "At present, the progress of completion of the overall construction has reached 60% and is expected to be completed before the Eid Al-Fitr in 2020," said Minister Basuki in a Working Meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian Parliament, Monday (11/5).

Akademik UGM Hospital has a total capacity of 107 beds with 80 inpatient beds, 2 action room beds and 25 isolation room beds. The Yudhistira Building with an area of ​​4,177 m2 has a capacity of 38 beds. Arjuna Building with an area of ​​4,505 m2 has a capacity of 69 beds. The estimated budget for the completion of the hospital reaches Rp 66.8 billion.

The continued development of Akademik UGM Hospital is carried out by the Directorate General of Human Settlements through the DIY Province Regional Settlement Infrastructure Agency (BPPW) with PT Adhi Karya and PT. Virama Karya as contractors. (LM)
