OJK will process the change in the ownership of Bank Bukopin

JAKARTA. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) will immediately process the change in Bank Bukopin's ownership, following an agreement reached with Kookmin Korea Bank which will make it the controlling shareholder of PT Bank Bukopin Tbk.

Anto Prabowo, Deputy Commissioner for Public Relations and Logistics of OJK, said that his party will immediately process the change in Bank Bukopin's ownership in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

Anto also said that it is necessary to strengthen the capital and liquidity aspects of shareholders and investors in an effort to maintain financial system stability.

Bank Bukopin plans to hold a rights issue at the end of semester I-2020 by issuing 2.3 billion shares. The rights issue plan was approved during the company's General Meeting of Shareholders in October 2019.

 KB Kookmin has agreed to be a standby buyer in the rights issue. Going forward, it is also possible for KB Kookmin Bank to increase its capital at Bank Bukopin through other schemes. (AM/AR)
