Minister of Industry and industry players committed to boost manufacturing

JAKARTA - Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita held a virtual halal bihalal event during Eid al-Fitr period. On that occasion, the Minister of Industry invited officials in the Ministry of Industry and stakeholders to make the spirit of this victory day to support, strengthen and complement each other, in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Minister of Industry said, through various policies and regulations, the Ministry of Industry continues to encourage the manufacturing industry to continue to make a positive contribution to the economy, even in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Our efforts to contribute to building the nation, especially through industrial development, will succeed if there is good cooperation between the government and industry players. On this occasion also, we from the Ministry of Industry apologize if there is still a lot of homework that has not been completed yet. But we are working seriously to finish it,” said Minister Agus in a release.

Industry players also appreciated the efforts made by the Ministry of Industry in supporting industry players to survive amid the Covid-19 pandemic, one of which was related to Operational Permits and Industrial Activity Mobility (IOMKI).

In 2019, exports of the industrial sector reached 126.57 billion US dollars, contributing 75.5% of Indonesia's total exports. The sectors that contributed the most to the export values ​​include the food industry (21.46%), base metals (13.72%), chemicals and articles of chemicals (10%), the clothing industry (6.56% ) as well as the paper and paper products industry (5.74%).
