PUPR Ministry renovates 7 public facilities in Jayapura and Wamena

JAKARTA - In the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Human Settlements remains committed to supporting the acceleration of economic and government recovery activities in Jayapura and Wamena after the mass actions that took place on 29 August 2019.

"In addition to appointing one of the BUMN Karya, in the implementation of this rehabilitation, the Ministry of PUPR involves local contractors under Gapensi Jayawijaya and the local community, working together so that the handling will be fast and has good quality," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.

The locations of rehabilitation and reconstruction work handled by the Ministry of PUPR in Jayapura include the Papuan People's Assembly Hall (MRP), Abepura Class II BLK Building and KPU Building. Meanwhile in Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency includes Wouma Market, rehabilitation of 403 shop houses, STISIP Amal Ilmiah Yapis and KUA Building in Jayawijaya Regency.

Rehabilitation of 403 shop units in Wamena has been completed as many as 352 units and the remaining 51 are under construction. The rehabilitation of STISIP Amal Yapis Wamena has reached 89.63% with an estimated cost of Rp 51.65 billion. While the rehabilitation of the KUA Building in Jayawijaya Regency which also began on December 13, 2019 had just been completed on May 22, 2020 with an investment of Rp 1.139 billion. (LM)
