JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry is actively encouraging the national industrial sector in order to create new breakthroughs. Innovation is a key to increasing the competitiveness and independence of the nation, and preparing for the rise of national industry in the face of new normal.
"By innovating, industry players can answer various challenges faced and produce highly competitive products. In addition, innovation can also increase the independence of the nation so that we can love domestic products more, reduce import dependence, and be ready to revive industries in a new normal situation," said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in Jakarta, Wednesday (27/5).
The Minister of Industry said, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the industrial sector needed innovation in order to continue producing and meeting market needs. In the health sector, for example, innovation is the key to accelerating the handling of the Covid-19 outbreak.
The team from the Bandung Institute of Technology, University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, and Surabaya Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, which continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Industry, have succeeded in developing various types of ventilators to support medical needs, one of is an emergency ventilator. The Ministry of Industry also continues to strive to encourage and optimize the ability of the pharmaceutical industry sector to develop drug raw materials in the country.
The Minister of Industry explained, industry players must be prepared to face the new normal situation. Digital innovation is one of the strategies so that the industry can continue to work and contribute to the national economy, in addition to implementing health protocols. (LM)
