Phase I construction of Pidekso Dam reaches 92%

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) continues to increase the number of water reservoirs in Indonesia to support food and water security. Dam construction is carried out in various regions of Indonesia, one of which is in Central Java Province to support as a national food storage province. One of them is the Pidekso Dam in Wonogiri Regency which has reached 92% in its first phase progress.

"This multifunctional dam with a capacity of 25 million cubic meters is planned to be able to irrigate an area of ​​1,500 hectares. Irrigation water from dams will increase planting intensity from 133% (2000 Ha) to 240% (3600 Ha). It is hoped that the completion of this dam will be able to encourage economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic especially in agriculture," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.

Pidekso Dam, located in Wonogiri Regency, has a capacity of 25 million cubic meters, which is carried out by PT. PP (Pembangunan Perumahan) as contractor with state budget funds amounting to Rp 436.9 billion with an implementation period of 2,549 calendar days (2 January 15-25 December 2021). While the effective implementation of the dam section began in mid-2018. The dam is targeted to complete its Phase II in December 2021.

In Central Java Province, the Ministry of PUPR is also building seven other dams. The dams are Logung Dam in Kudus and Gondang in Karanganyar District which has been completed. Furthermore, Bener Dam is being built in Purworejo Regency, Randugunting in Blora Regency, Jlantah in Karanganyar Regency, Jragung in Demak Regency, and Matenggeng Dam in Cilacap Regency. (LM)
