JAKARTA - Standard Chartered Bank (StanChart) Indonesia and PT Eastspring Investments Indonesia have launched Eastspring Greater China Equity USD Sharia Mutual Fund, a mutual fund product targeted at customers who seek to invest in the Greater China (China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan) area.

The mutual fund is offered to StanChart Indonesia customers until September 2020, and will be marketed to the general public starting from October 1. Since its launch on June 15, the mutual fund has recorded a sales volume of US$1,994,445 as of Monday (22/6).

"The launch of the Eastspring Greater China Equity USD Sharia Mutual Fund is special because this is [StanChart's] first mutual fund that offers a specific investment destination in the Greater China area," StanChart Indonesia CEO Andrew Chia said in an official statement received by IDNFinancials.com, Wednesday (24/6).

"This is also in line with one of Standard Chartered Bank Indonesia's focuses in 2020 to consistently provide new investment options for customers."

According to StanChart and Eastspring, the mutual fund is suitable for investors with medium and long investment terms. In addition, investors can also diversify their portfolio in potential sectors such as technology, with Chinese tech giants including Tencent, Alibaba Group, and JD.com as the fund's top holdings.
