JAKARTA - PT Buyung Poetra Sembada Tbk (HOKI) has pledged to implement a zero-waste rice production system as part of its strategy towards sustainability.

According to HOKI Investor Relations Dion Surijata, the company has implemented a responsible production system without leaving hazardous waste. Rice waste from the company's production process is distributed to other parties to be processed as animal feed.

"HOKI is targeting a rice production system without leaving any waste. It is hoped that these various efforts can support HOKI to develop a long-term sustainability strategy," Mr Surijata said in an official statement received by IDNFinancials.com, Tuesday (30/6).

In addition, he said, HOKI has also partnered Hong Kong-based sustainable Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) platform Turnkey Group to obtain first-phase ESG certification. The partnership was announced at the company's AGM on Tuesday.

"We currently use a system developed by Turnkey to identify the most material ESG KPIs, which will then be analysed as a report on environmental impacts through the Turnkey Module for Carbon, Energy, Water, and Waste," Mr Surijata explained.

At the AGM, the company's shareholders approved the distribution of a dividend amounting to Rp 28.63 billion or Rp 12 per share. The amount is 27.61% of the company's 2019 net profit of Rp 103.72 billion. (MS)
