Government cancels civil servant recruitment this year

08 July 2020 12:00

JAKARTA - The government will not open recruitment for civil servants in 2020 due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, said State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reforms Minister Tjahjo Kumolo.

This, Mr Kumolo said, is due to delays in the 2019 civil servant recruitment due to the pandemic. In addition, many participants who passed last year’s recruitment have not been formally sworn in as civil servants.

“Recruitment tests, interviews, and other stages were delayed due to COVID-19,” Mr Kumolo told Tirto.id on Tuesday (7/7).

Mr Kumolo added that the cancellation of civil servant recruitment this year will also apply to government-affiliated colleges and polytechnics, with the exception of the State Intelligence College. Regarding the 2021 civil servant recruitment, he said the government has not made a decision so far.

“No decision has been made for 2021. It’s still being processed,” said the Indonesia Democratic Party-Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) member. (MS)
