Bappebti work together with Kominfo to block illegal investment promotion

10 July 2020 14:11

JAKARTA. The Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency (Bappebti) works closely with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo), to remove dozens of illegal investment promotion content on social media.

Tjahya Widayanti, Head of Bappebti, said that in June 2020, there were 81 videos promoting illegal investment in social media taken down by Bappebti and the Ministry of Communication and Information. 57 domains belonging to illegal entities have also been blocked.

"Bappebti will continue to block the promotion or advertisement of illegal commodity trade," Widayanti said through an official statement today.

Some of the illegal investment business operators claim to have business licenses from foreign regulators. However, Widayanti emphasized that businesses must obtain permission from Indonesian regulators to be able to operate their business in Indonesia. (KR/AR)
