JAKARTA. The Indonesian government and PT Medco E&P Indonesia, a subsidiary of PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MEDC), will collaborate in an open pit trial in South Sumatra.

Usman Pasarai, Research Coordinator at the Center for Research and Development of Oil and Gas Technology (Lemigas), said this collaboration was in accordance with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) decision in 2019. This collaboration between the government and Medco E&P will run for the next 6 months.

"This is the effort of the Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and PT Medco E&P Indonesia, in finding appropriate technological breakthroughs to increase national oil production," Pasarai said through an official statement received at idnfinancials.com.

Meanwhile Sutami, Operations Manager of Medco E&P in South Sumatra, said a number of steps had been completed. Starting from pre-construction, environmental licensing, land clearing, to the delivery of ore for the recovery factor test. (KR/AR)
