Cosmetics SMEs are encouraged to utilize e-commerce platforms

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry is encouraging cosmetics SMEs to be more aggressive in marketing through the internet and social media (e-commerce). That was said by E. Ratna Utarianingrum, Director of Small and Medium Industries (IKM) ChemistryClothingCrafts and Multifarious Industries in Jakarta, yesterday (18/7).

According to her, e-commerce platforms provides many advantages and convenience in terms of marketing and access for consumers to shop. By optimizing the use of digital facilities, she said, businesses can survive and produce a number of innovations.

"In the pandemic, especially when PSBB is in effect, consumers cannot shop or try beauty products in stores directly, but they can still buy them online," she said.

In addition, she argues that advances in internet technology increase the variety of cosmetic products produced by SMEs. "At present, cosmetics SMEs can reach wider consumers through e-commerce and social media," she said. (LK/AR)
