JAKARTA - PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk (MEDC) has started producing gas from the Meliwis Field, offshore Madura, East Java. The company considers the start a major achievement amid logistical and operational challenges posed by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
According to Medco Energi CEO Roberto Lorato, the gas field has been productive since its discovery in 2016. "Medco Energi was able to complete the development of the Meliwis Field safely," he said in a press release on Monday (20/7).
The field, Mr Lorato added, was developed by using an unmanned platform and a 11-km underwater pipe which supplies 20 MMCFD of gas to industries in East Java. The gas field is located in the Madura Offshore Block, managed by Medco Energi's subsidiary Ophir Indonesia. (LK/MS)
