Garuda will try to increase revenue from cargo sector

24 July 2020 11:07

JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA) is trying to increase its revenue from the cargo sector, due to significant decline in its passenger sector caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. That was said by the Director of PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA) Irfan Sebuahutra in an online discussion in Jakarta on Friday (24/7).

According to him, so far,  most of Garuda's revenue came from the passenger sector. 95% of human resources (HR) at Garuda, he said, work on the passenger sector, while only 5% of them work in cargo transportation. "Today, when there is a need to transport cargo from one destination to another, it will be prioritized so that the movement of the cargo will be smoother," he said.

He said that Garuda is operating 10 cargo aircrafts per day. Garuda actually planned to bring in two more cargo aircrafts this year, but the plan has been delayed due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. (LK/AR)
