The government will support the construction of an oil depot in Batam

JAKARTA - The government supports the acceleration of the construction of the oil depot project in Batam, which will be conducted by a subsidiary of Sinopec Group and PT Batam Sentralindo. The groundbreaking of the project, which cost Rp 12.9 trillion, was carried out on 12 October 2012 in the Westpoint Maritime Industrial Park industrial area, Batam.

Suswijiono, Secretary of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs said that a memorandum of understanding had been made between Sinomart KTS Development Ltd, a subsidiary of Sinopec and PT Batam Sentralindo on 29 July 2020.

According to him, the government and BP Batam became the mediator between Sinopec Group and Batam Sentralindo. This project, he said, will support national energy security and also support the economy in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The oil depot is planned to have a capacity of 2.6 million kiloliters. (LK/AR)
