PUPR Ministry to build rest area in Puncak, Bogor

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has prepared the construction of a rest area to support the tourism route in the Puncak area, Bogor Regency. The construction of this rest area is part of the Puncak area management program in collaboration with the Bogor Regency Government, which is followed by relocating street vendors to safer and more suitable places.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that the arrangement of the Puncak area is also one of the long-term efforts to reduce the risk of landslides in the Puncak lane due to changes in spatial use, high rainfall, and topographic conditions.

Rest area construction will begin in 2020 and finish in 2021 by utilizing an area of ​​7 hectares owned by PT Perkebunan Nusantara VIII, which is near the Gunung Mas Agro Tourism area, Bogor. This rest area will be equipped with a number of facilities to provide comfort for motorists such as 3 parking area locations with a total area of ​​1,774 m2 to accommodate around 500 cars, 576 m2 mosque, 572.27 m2 plaza, meeting point, park or green open space and amphitheater.

To accommodate the relocated street vendors, 516 kiosks covering 11 m2 are divided into 100 wet kiosks and 416 dry kiosks. In addition, a 2,041 m2 retention pool was built, a Waste Management Facility (TPS) and modern toilets with 28 female toilets, 22 male toilets, 19 urinals and 26 sinks to support the provision of clean water and sanitation. The total budget for the rest area construction is Rp 61.7 billion. (LM)
