The number of airline passengers declines by 50% YoY in the first half of 2020

JAKARTA - According to the data released by Statistics Indonesia on Monday, the number of airline passengers during the period of January-June 2020 was recorded ar 18.4 million, 49.67% lower than its record in the same period last year of 36.5 million.

The significant decline was attributed to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Almost all countries restrict foreign visits, including Indonesia.

Despite this, there was a massive increase in the number of passengers (by 791.38%) in June 2020, to 775,500, from its record in May 2020 (87,000). The increase in passengers recorded in several airports, including Soekarno-Hatta airport, Juanda airport, Ngurah Rai airport, and others. (LK/AR)
