JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) continues to strive to improve connectivity between centers of economic growth such as industrial areas and tourism areas in various regions. One of them is the construction of the Semarang - Demak toll road project along 27 km which is integrated with the Semarang City Sea Wall.

“Some time ago the Trans Jawa Toll Road was inaugurated from Merak to Pasuruan and we will continue it to Banyuwangi. We are also building the Semarang - Demak Toll Road which is combined with a sea wall as well as to tackle tidal flooding in Semarang," said Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono.

The construction of the Semarang - Demak Toll Road is carried out under the Business Entity-Government Cooperation (PPP) scheme. This toll road is divided into two sections, Section 1 (Semarang - Sayung) along 10.69 km which is government support. Meanwhile Section 2 (Sayung - Demak) along 16.31 km is the responsibility of the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) PT Pembangunan Perumahan Semarang Demak.

The construction of Section 1 is still in the process of submitting Green Book and preparing the Final Engineering Design Plan (RTA). Meanwhile, the progress of the construction of Section 2 has reached 30.53% for land acquisition and 10.56% for physical projects.
