Upbit obtains licenses to run its digital asset trading business in Thailand

13 August 2020 07:14

JAKARTA. Upbit Thailand obtained four temporary licenses from the Thai Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to run its digital asset trading business.

"The four licenses allow us to legally offer our digital asset combinations and allow us to work with global partners in innovative ways," said Peeradej Tanruangporn, CEO of Upbit Thailand.

Upbit believes that obtaining the license is a big achievement for the company, since Thailand is one of the few countries that recognizes cryptocurrency as a futures trading asset. Thai government considers this asset to be able to contribute greatly to the national economy and create more jobs.

For information, Upbit is a platform owned by Dunamu Inc., a South Korean company that provides financial and investment data. The platform, which has been operating since 2017, has reached Singapore and Indonesia. (KR/AR)
