24 August 2020 07:39

JAKARTA. PT HM Sampoerna Tbk (HMSP) admitted that it had put 7,894 of its employees on furlough in 2020. Meanwhile, the temporary cessation of operational activities is expected to reduce the company's revenue by 25%.

For information, HMSP currently employs 22,968 people (permanent and non-permanent).

In its statement to the IDX last week, management explained that the action was carried out because the COVID-19 pandemic had a considerable impact on the company's operations and business.

Some time ago, a new COVID-19 cluster appeared at HMSP's factory. Some of its employees have tested positive for COVID-19. (AM/AR)
