Royke Tumilaar appointed as BNI CEO

JAKARTA. PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk's (BBNI) EGM on Wednesday (2/9) has approved the appointment of Royke Tumilaar as the company's new CEO.

Mr Tumilaar previously served as CEO of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI), having been appointed to the post by State-owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir on December 9, 2019. Prior to serving as Bank Mandiri CEO, Mr Tumilaar was the company's Corporate Banking Director.

Mr Tumilaar graduated with a Master of Business Finance degree from University of Technology Sydney, Australia in 1999 and joined Bank Mandiri through Bank Dagang Negara (BDN) in the same year. He last served as a senior professional in BDN's Loan Resolution Team in Jakarta prior to BDN being merged into Bank Mandiri along with several other state-owned banks.

In the first semester (1H) of 2020, Bank Mandiri posted Rp 10.29 trillion in net profit, down 23.93% year on year (yoy), although the drop was the smallest among all state-owned banks. In the same period, BNI posted a Rp 4.46 trillion net profit, down 41.6% yoy with the worst profit drop among state-owned banks. (AM/MS)
