JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry continues to strive to improve the competitiveness of the electronics industry in the country, one of the ways is by applying the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). This step is considered to be able to secure the domestic market and safeguard consumer safety against imported products that are not of high quality.

"However, the enforcement of SNI for electronic and telematic products needs to be supported by an adequate test laboratory," said the Head of the Industrial Research and Development Agency (BPPI) of the Ministry of Industry, Doddy Rahadi in Jakarta, Friday (4/9).

Related to this, the Head of BPPI said that his party has one of the R&D units that focus on testing electronic products, namely the Surabaya Industrial Research and Standardization Center (Baristand). "Baristand Industri Surabaya has been equipped with an Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) laboratory, which is one of the largest laboratories in Indonesia," he said.

With adequate laboratory facilities, according to Doddy, the implementation and strict supervision of SNI can be carried out properly. Head of the Baristand Industri Surabaya, Aan Eddy Antana said that the EMC laboratory at the Baristand Industri Surabaya is able to test electronic and telematic equipment such as drones, headphones, cellphones, handy talkies (HT), wireless microphones, bluetooth headphones, pianos, televisions and other electronic equipment.
