08 September 2020 12:27

JAKARTA - State-owned electricity company PT PLN (Persero) has launched the Kampung Listrik (Electricity Kampong) PLN Green programme in the kampongs of Hijau Kemuning, Binong Subdistrict, Tangerang and 05 Community Unit, Batu Ampar Subdistrict, East Jakarta to promote the use of green energy.

At a launching event held on 4 September 2020, PLN gave away 232 induction stoves to both kampongs’ residents. According to the company, converting from gas stoves to induction stoves will increase electricity and green energy consumption as well as saving the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) subsidy allocation in the 2020 State Budget.

“This is part of PLN’s commitment to popularise the electrifying lifestyle and increase national electricity consumption,” PLN CEO Zulkifli Zaini said in an official statement on the Ministry of State-owned Enterprises’ website, Monday (7/9).

In 2019, Indonesia’s electricity use per capita reached 1,084 kilowatt hours (kWh). For this year, PLN targets the country’s electricity use per capita to reach 1,142 kWh. (MS)
