House approves Rp 50 billion budget increase for Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in 2021

JAKARTA - The House of Representatives’ Budget Committee has approved a Rp 50 billion budget increase for the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs for the 2021 budget year. Previously, the Budget Committee set a budget of Rp 393,3 billion for the ministry in 2021.

At a work meeting with the Budget Committee on Tuesday (8/9), Coordinating Economic Affairs Minister Airlangga Hartarto said the additional Rp 50 billion budget will be allocated for the COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery Committee, of which he serves as chair.

According to Mr Hartato, who also serves as Functional Groups (Golkar) Party Chair, the additional budget will be used for committee activities including ministerial coordinated meetings, coordinated meetings with local governments, policy publication and public relations, monitoring and evaluation, and secretariat operations.

The work meeting was also attended by, among others, House Budget Committee Chair M.H. Said Abdullah; Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan; Coordinating Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Minister Mahfud MD; and Secretary to the Coordinating Human Development and Culture Minister Yohanes Sananugraha.
