JAKARTA. PT Astra International Tbk (ASII) recorded a growth in car sales of 65.41% in August 2020 to 16,773 units.
In a press release received by idnfinancials.com, ASII management said that car sales during August 2020 were dominated by the Toyota brand, which contributed sales of 8,740 units (52.11%). followed by Daihatsu (6,651 units or around 39.65%), Isuzu (1,312 units or 7.82%), UD Trucks (54 units or 0.32%), and Peugeot (16 units or 0.10%).
Of all cars sold, 5,217 units were Low Cost Green Cars (LCGC). When compared to sales in July 2020, the LCGC car sales grew by 236.36%.
Even so, ASII's car sales were still 64.27% lower than its record in the same period in 2019. In August 2019, ASII was able to sell 46,944 cars. Meanwhile, from January to August 2020, the total cars sold by ASII reached 213,080 units. During this period, ASII maintained a market share of 51%. (KR/AR)
