JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry continues to encourage the manufacturing sector in the country to be able to take advantage of industrial technology 4.0. This is in accordance with the implementation of priority programs on the road map of Making Indonesia 4.0 which aims to increase the competitiveness of the national industry in the global arena.

"One of the visions of Making Indonesia 4.0 is to make Indonesia into the top 10 largest economies by 2030," said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in Jakarta, Tuesday (22/9).

Furthermore, the use of industrial technology 4.0 is believed to provide benefits for companies, including increasing efficiency and reducing costs by around 12-15 percent. There are a number of digital technologies that are the key to building industrial systems 4.0, including Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Advanced Robotic and 3D printing.

"Based on research from McKinsey & Company, the development of digital infrastructure in Indonesia will bring positive opportunities of up to USD150 billion for the world global economy by 2025," he said.

Moreover, this potential is supported because Indonesia is one of the countries with the highest internet users in the world. Referring to data from HootSuite, Indonesians who use internet connections on mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets have reached 338.2 million users or more than the total population. (LM)
