JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry is actively facilitating the provision of production machines and equipment for small and medium industry (IKM) players. This program is believed to be able to increase productivity and competitiveness, especially amid the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"In order to respond to current conditions, IKM players need to improve their competitiveness, either through improving the quality or product standards required by buyers, supported by an efficient production management system," said Director General of Small, Medium and Miscellaneous Industry (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry, Gati Wibawaningsih at Jakarta, Friday (25/9).
Therefore, on Thursday (24/9) yesterday, the Directorate General of IKMA of the Ministry of Industry handed over the assistance of machines and production equipment to the Majalaya Textile Technical Implementation Unit (UPT). The machines and equipment include High Speed Assembly Winder Machine, Short Fiber Two-For-One Twister, and Electric Twist Tester Machine.
Gati said, textile industry players in the country are struggling to fight for the continuity of their business amid the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in the second quarter of 2020, the textile industry contributed 6.93 percent to the GDP of the non-oil and gas manufacturing sector. (LM)
