BBRI fires one of its employees for embezzlement

JAKARTA. PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) has dismissed the manager of its Dolopo branch office, Madiun, for misusing Rp2.1 billion of customers' money.

Aestika Oryza Gunarto, Corporate Secretary of BBRI, said that BBRI would not tolerate acts of fraud or embezzlement in all of its offices. "Therefore, the company has laid off our workers involved in the crime," said Gunarto through a disclosure published on the Indonesia Stock Exchange.

For information, the aforementioned employee (initial R.S.) is a Relationship Manager at BBRI's Dolopo branch office, Madiun. Currently, the District Attorney General of Madiun has conducted an investigation into the criminal act.

From the results of the investigation, 11 customers were found as victims. The embezzlement method used by R.S. in the past year was through illegal withdrawal of customer funds. RS admitted that the funds were used for betting.

Gunarto emphasized that BBRI will continue to follow the processing of the case, in accordance with applicable legal procedures. (KR/AR)
