JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) will rely on rail express services to increase revenue amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This was conveyed by Didiek Hartaantyo, President Director of PT KAI (Persero) in Jakarta on Monday (28/9).
He said that rail express was a freight service using trains that is cheap, fast and safe. "We enter a sector that is directly related to customers," he said.
According to him, this step was taken as KAI's response to developments amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused low passenger volume on KAI's trains. At present, KAI's passenger volume is only 10% of the volume recorded before the pandemic. (LK/AR)
