JAKARTA - As of Monday (28/9) the government through the Ministry of Manpower distributed wage subsidies to 10,180,341 receivers or 87.35% of a target of 11.6 million people in phase I to IV of the distribution, said Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah.
"The distribution of wage subsidies for workers ran smoothly; however, there were still several obstacles in the process," Ms Fauziyah said in an official statement on Tuesday (29/9).
From the amount, 2,484,429 people received the subsidies in phase I, 2,981,602 in phase II, 3,476,123 in phase III, and 1,238,187 in phase IV.
According to Ms Fauziyah, the most common obstacles in the distribution process included duplicated bank accounts, closed accounts, passive accounts, invalid accounts, and frozen accounts. Regarding the matter, she asks prospective receivers to confirm their bank accounts to their employers to prevent mistakes in account reporting to the Social Security Administration for Employment (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan).
Additionally, Ms Fauziyah also said the Ministry hopes those who receive wage subsidies will spend their money wisely to revive the economy during the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. "We hope workers who receive these subsidies will spend their money on basic needs, particularly MSME products," she said. (MS)
