01 October 2020 12:34

BANDUNG - The Bandung City Government is exploring a plan to implement a mini lockdown as suggested by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to curb the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to Bandung Mayor Oded M. Danial, the plan needs to be discussed with the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) beforehand, although it was already discussed by the Bandung City Government internally.

“I have talked to the Secretary (Bandung City Secretary Ema Sumarna) and we will discuss the matter with the [COVID-19] Task Force. I will also discuss it with Forkopimda as it was first suggested by the President,” Mr Danial said as quoted from Antara, Wednesday (30/9).

Previously, Mr Widodo suggested that regions implement mini-lockdowns, which are considered to be more effective in curbing the spread of COVID-19.

As of Wednesday, the City of Bandung recorded 1,314 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 1,127 recoveries and 58 deaths. (MS)
