JAKARTA - South Tangerang is one of the satellite cities of Jakarta. Like other urban areas, congestion and flooding are serious problems faced. To solve this problem, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) together with the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) PT Bintaro Serpong Damai started three construction works on the Pondok Aren - Serpong Toll Road.

The three jobs are the first, a construction project not on the same level as the Serpong ramp junction with the Pamulang exit ramp to prevent potential accidents. Second, the construction of KM 8 flood management to prevent flooding caused by a crossing with Cibenda River, resulting in a narrowing of the river to Situ Parigi and a decrease in the capacity of the water channel under the toll road.

Third, the construction is not a plot of access on the Rawa Buntu ramp on the Pondok Aren - Serpong Toll Road to eliminate the confluence of vehicles leaving the Pondok Aren - Serpong Toll Road and those entering the toll road. In addition, it is also to overcome congestion due to passenger / vehicle activities at Rawabuntu Station

“The PUPR Ministry encourages infrastructure development activities to continue because it is one of the sectors that can drive the economy during the COVID-19 pandemic. The three construction works on the Pondok Aren - Serpong Toll Road can absorb more than 1,000 workers, of course this is an exciting thing," said Director General of Highways Hedy Rahadian at the groundbreaking event of three construction works on the Pondok Aren - Serpong Toll Road virtually, Wednesday (30/9)

It is expected that this construction work can be completed according to the target in the third quarter of 2021 and operated in the fourth quarter of 2021. (LM)
