Pertamina exports HSD fuel to Malaysia

07 October 2020 08:25

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) exports High Speed Diesel (HSD) fuel to Malaysia at a price of US$ 9.5 billion per cargo (200 thousand barrels) to prevent losses amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This was announced by Ignatius Tallulembang,CEO of Refinery & Petrochemical Subholding at PT Pertamina (Persero) in a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission VII of the House of Representatives (DPR).

He said that the export was carried out because domestic demand for HSD fuel was still low and Pertamina's storage facilities were almost full. Despite of this, Pertamina decided not to stop refinery operations since it will hurt Pertamina more.

"If we stop (refinery operations, red), it means that we cannot produce other products, such as gasoline, LPG, and so on, cannot be produced," he said on Wednesday (7/10).

The price used for the export was the market price. "The price is adjusted to the market at that time," he said. (LK/AR)
