Erick Thohir: The merger of three Islamic banks will help establish one of the world's top Islamic banks

JAKARTA - The merger of three Indonesian state-owned Islamic banks is expected to be able to provide new energy for the economy and create an Islamic bank that can become one of the world's Top 10 Islamic banks.

Erick Thohir, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) said during the signing of the conditional merger agreement (CMA) between PT Bank BRI Syariah Tbk (BRIS), PT Bank BNI Syariah, and PT Bank Syariah Mandiri on Tuesday (13/10) that the signing was the first step to create a global scale Islamic bank. The merger, he said, would provide more benefits for Indonesian people.

He hopes for the support of all Indonesian people for the merger. The total asset value of the merged banks is estimated at Rp207 trillion. (LK/AR)
