JAKARTA. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has developed a number of coal industry downstream effort schemes to support the national economy.

Sujatmiko, Director of Coal Business Development at the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal, said that it is time for the coal business to be converted according to global developments. "For example, implementing Clean Coal Technology (CCT)," said Sujatmiko in a press release today.

The schemes offered are coal gasification, cokes making, underground gasification, coal liquefaction, coal quality improvement, briquette manufacturing, and coal slurry or coal water mixture. "The seven schemes are the future of our coal industry, to make it the backbone of energy, both in Indonesia and in the world," said Sujatmiko.

To accelerate the downstream efforts, Sujatmiko said that the government has prepared fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, such as royalty exemptions for coal used as raw material for downstream industry and business licenses for the life of mining reserves. (KR/AR)
