JAKARTA. PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind), an Indonesian state-owned company engaged in construction, has officially withdrew itself from the Cirebon-Semarang gas transmission pipeline project.

Fansurullah Asa, Head of the Regulatory Agency for Upstream Oil and Gas (BPH Migas), said that Rekind's official withdrawal letter was received on 2 October 2020. At present, Asa said, BPH Migas is conducting an internal study to continue the project.

"We have agreed that BPH Migas will assign the Natural Gas Director of BPH Migas to carry out the study within a maximum period of 1 month from 12 October 2020," said Asa in a press release on Wednesday (14/10).

The options that may be decided are the granting of the right of the auction winners to the second and third winners after Rekind, until the re-auction of the project. "The study will provide comprehensive data in terms of supply and demand," said Asa. (KR/AR)
