PTPN IX develops Banaran Coffee Village as tourist destination

JAKARTA - State-owned plantation operator PT Perkebunan Nusantara IX (Persero) or PTPN IX is developing the Banaran Coffee Village in Bawean, Central Java as a tourist destination. This was announced by State-owned Plantation Holding Company CEO M. Abdul Gani, who added that the area is being developed jointly with PT Dyandra Promosindo.

According to Mr Gani, the Banaran Coffee Village has great potential as a tourist destination. "We are in collaboration with an experienced party to increase the promotion of the Banaran Coffee Village," he said.

The agreement was signed by PTPN IX Director Tio Handoko and Dyandra Promosindo President Director Hendra Noor Saleh, with PTPN III Director Seger Budiarjo and PTPN IX President Commissioner M. Syarkawi in attendance.

The tourist destination, Mr Gani said, will have an area of 40 hectares, 10% of PTPN IX's 400-ha land in Banaran. "The area will be integrated and modernised," he said. (LK/MS)
