JAKARTA - Heru Hidayat, President Commissioner of PT Trada Alam Minera Tbk (TRAM) was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Anti-Corruption Court (Tipikor) at the Central Jakarta District Court related to the case of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero). The verdict was read by Rosmina, Chief Judge of the Anti-Corruption Court in Jakarta, yesterday (26/10).
In addition to the life sentence, the panel of judges also sentenced Heru to pay Rp10.72 trillion in compensation. "If it is not paid within a month after the sentence, then the defendant's property will be confiscated and auctioned off by the prosecutor to cover the replacement money," she said.
Rosmina emphasized that Heru Hidayat used the money on himself and on gambling. "The act was carried out for a long time and caused losses to the state. The defendant used his knowledge to damage the capital market, and erased public confidence in the world of insurance," said Rosmina. (LK/AR)
