JAKARTA. Indonesia and Bangladesh negotiated the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) last week (21/10-22/10), after postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the negotiations, the Indonesian delegation was represented by Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Director of Bilateral Negotiations. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh delegation was led by Muhammad Shahidul Islam, Additional Secretary of Bangladesh's Ministry of Trade.

During the negotiations, the delegations of the two countries discussed the agreement draft, market access, and the Rules of Origin (ROO) policy. "The two delegations believe that the meeting is important in since the completion of the IB-PTA negotiations is highly anticipated by businesses from the two countries," said Marthini in a press release received by idnfinancials.com.

In addition, Marthini said that she was optimistic that the ultimate goal of the PTA would be to open better market access for superior or potential products from Indonesia to Bangladesh. (KR/AR)
