Indonesia promotes digital economy in Thailand

BANGKOK - Indonesia offers investment opportunities and digital economy cooperation in Thailand through a webinar entitled "Indonesia Investment Promotion on Digital Economy" held by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Bangkok on Tuesday (3/11).

The webinar, held to commemorate 70 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Thailand, was attended by representatives of four tech companies from Indonesia, namely Halodoc, LinkAja, MDI Ventures, and Nongsa Digital Park, as well as business players from Thailand such as Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) Thailand Executive Vice President Kasama Kongsmak and Bangkok Bank Senior Executive Vice President Kobsak Pootrakul as speakers.

"In the midst of the challenging COVID-19 pandemic, Indonesia continues to expand economic cooperation based on the principle of mutual benefit, including with Thailand," said Charge d'affaires ad interim of the Embassy of Indonesia in Bangkok Dicky Komar as quoted from an official statement on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' website, Wednesday (4/11).

According to Mr Komar, as the two largest economies in Southeast Asia, Indonesia and Thailand have similar economic diplomacy goals, namely implementing the principles of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. In addition, the two countries are also promoting digital economic transformation amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. (MS)
