JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) continues to spur the performance of the textile and textile product (TPT) industry sector to remain productive amid the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Moreover, this sector has become one of the mainstays in the 2015-2035 National Industrial Development Master Plan (RIPIN) and its development is prioritized based on the Making Indonesia 4.0 road map.

"The textile industry is one of the oldest sectors, with the largest and strongest industrial structure, and is an industry that absorbs a lot of labor," said Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry Achmad Sigit Dwiwahjono at the opening of the 2020 National Textile Seminar which was held virtually by the Center for Textiles. (BBT) Bandung, Tuesday (3/11).

Director General of the Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Textile Industry (IKFT) of the Ministry of Industry, Muhammad Khayam, said that his party had tried to formulate various strategies to revive the stretching of the textile industry during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. One of the steps taken was the application of the Textile Road Map 4.0. The road map emphasizes three ranges, namely horizon 1 (short term or 3-5 years), horizon 2 (medium term 5-10 years) and horizon 3 (long term 10-15 years).

Next, the Ministry of Industry is determined to improve the connectivity of the upstream-downstream sector in the textile industry with the Indonesia Smart Textile Industry Hub (ISTIH) platform and proposes an Incentive for Local Ease of Export Destinations (KLTE) and the Ease of Local Destination (KLTL) for the use of domestic raw materials. Another effort is to facilitate the establishment of a pilot textile plant 4.0 or lighthouse project as a benchmark for implementing Industry 4.0 at the company level. (LM)
