Tourism holding company is expected to help improve the tourism industry

JAKARTA - The establishment of PT Survei Udara Penas, the holding company for aviation and tourism state-owned enterprises (SOEs) is expected to boost the revival of the tourism industry sector amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Muhammad Awaluddin, President Director of PT Angkasa Pura (Persero) stated in his written statement that the holding company would integrate those SOEs in the holding ecosystem. "Their potential will be optimized to encourage the development of the tourism industry in Indonesia," he said.

The SOEs that will run under the holding company are PT Angkasa Pura (Persero) I, Angkasa Pura (Persero) II, PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk (GIIA), PT Inna Hotels and Resorts (Persero), PT Sarinah (Persero), and PT Indonesia. Tourism Development Corporation (Persero) and PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur Prambanan and Ratu Boko (Persero).

According to him, the effort to establish a tourism holding was in line with the government's efforts to restore the national economy amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, from the consumer side, he said, the existence of the holding company would help provide better tourism products and services.

"Angkasa Pura II will grow in terms of corporate governance, as well as contribute to the development of the tourism industry in the country," he said. (LK/AR)
