DPR: PLTSa program should be evaluated

10 November 2020 06:42

JAKARTA - The House of Representatives (DPR) has asked for the plan to build waste-to-energy plants (PLTSa) to be evaluated because it is considered ineffective and it may create an unnecessary burden for the state budget.

Mulyanto, a member of Commission VII of the House of Representatives (DPR) said that the issue of tipping fees and subsidies for electricity production costs may cause an unnecessary burden for the state budget.

"We want to focus the current budget on the efforts to handle the COVID-19 pandemic. PLTSa is not yet urgent," he said.

The PLTSa development plan is part of the new and renewable energy mix (EBT) program. The government plans to build PLTSa in 12 cities in Indonesia. (LK/AR)
