JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry encourages small and medium industries (SMIs) to improve efficiency in order to sustain themselves during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
This was conveyed by the ministry’s Director-General of Small, Medium, and Miscellaneous Industries Gati Wibawaningsih in a webinar on 5 November 2020.
“We encourage SMIs to adapt their business by optimising products and services by expanding business coverage and making breakthroughs that have never existed before,” she said in an official statement received by IDNFinancials.com, Wednesday (11/11).
According to Ms Wibawaningsih, the COVID-19 pandemic has encouraged the government to carry out economic transformation which emphasises the role of technology. In addition, the government also provides Rp 695.2 trillion worth of assistance for MSMEs including in the form of interest subsidies, fund placement for restructuring, and working capital loans. (MS)
